![]() Wood heat is a cozy, inviting warmth on a chilly winter evening. We sometimes forget why we ever switched to other heating systems! But wood heat can become unsafe and hazardous if ignored or abused. Wood burning appliances always require regular maintenance to be safe and reliable. Remember, we are talking about lighting a fire inside your home! Let's make sure we're doing so safely!
We offer a First Time Customer Complete Service including a thorough cleaning and Wett Certified Evaluation of any wood burning fireplaces, inserts, stoves, furnaces, or any other appliances. MasterSweep offers year round service doing inspections, cleanings, repairs, and installations. We also offer 24 hour and emergency services if our customers require it. From August to February are our busiest months, and we usually need to book up to three weeks in advance. We offer Preferred Customer discounts during the slower season from March through July. Busy season price for a Complete Service on a single system starts at $150+GST for an average home, with any additional systems in the same residence at $95+GST each depending. Furnaces or pellet appliances may need extra services. Extremely steep or high roofs would have a surcharge. We always use complete rigging to WCB standards to protect the building and our workers safety. We guarantee No Mess, and have specialty vacuums to remove all dust as well as 99% of the smells. Inspections: Safety inspections are an important service we offer. Many levels of safety inspections can be done, and it is good to be aware that not all inspections are the same. During the course of a First Time Customer Complete Service, the technician will do an evaluation of any readily visible areas of the system. This is the most basic form of inspection, and will uncover most serious problems. This type of visual inspection covers all areas necessary to be considered a proper WETT Certified Inspection for insurance purposes. For more in depth or "forensic" inspections, we have a "Chim Scan" Internal Chimney Inspection Camera (special closed circuit tv and camera) to get a closer look at chimney flues. The camera allows us to inspect the chimney from a range of just a few inches, as well as from the top and bottom. This type of inspection is not needed with every chimney sweep, but may be recommended if the customer or technician suspects certain problems. "Chim Scan" inspections are strongly recommended after a chimney fire or any other type of chimney damage. "Chim Scan" Inspections start at $300 + GST additional to any cleaning charges. It is important to note that even the most thorough inspection may not reveal all problems. Some areas of the chimney may not be accessible due to the construction of the house. Be sure to discuss any specific concerns with your technician. The chosen inspection level will reflect your comments and concerns. Third Stage Creosote Deglazing: Occasionally, the creosote buildup in a flue may be much thicker and "glazed on" than a regular sweeping can remove. In these cases, we offer a rotary mechanical deglazing service. We use mechanical specialty tools to remove the tar-like, shiny, hard creosote deposits. Although there is also a chemical that can be used to deglaze systems, we choose not to use the chemicals in most cases. The only exception would be on deeply saturated masonry flues, and only after mechanical methods have been used first. Your technician will show you images and let you know if this service is neceassry for your system. A rotary mechanical deglaze starts at $300+GST for a one story flue, and $450+GST for a two story flue. Additionally, we also offer pre-installation prep services for homeowners preparing to install a new wood or gas fuel insert in their existing fireplace. Additional Services: We also provide masonry repairs, including chimney rebuilds above the roofline, tuck pointing, concrete crown sealing, repairs, and repouring, and breech pipe or thimble repairs or reinstallation. We can install raincaps, animal screens, and spark arresters. We do chimney relining with stainless steel liners to woodstoves or inserts, which is a straightforward, relatively inexpensive way to repair some types of problems. We also have a method of relining a chimney to an open fireplace with a custom stainless steel liner. This type of work can be costly, and is generally recommended only for heritage homes or other applications where it is very important to retain the original look of the fireplace. We can remove existing factory built fireplaces and chimneys which have failed inspection, and replace them with new appliances and chimneys. The services mentioned above vary in price, and may not be available during our busiest season. We are happy to provide consultation services for homeowners wishing to do-it-themselves, but needing a little professional advice. If you do not see the service you need here, please call and we will see what we can do!
